A full day private expedition into the wild edges of Sitka Sound with wildlife watching, remote beach landings, exploration, and a relaxed picnic lunch for those seeking a deeper Alaska experience.

Overview
Description
Leave the crowds behind and explore Sitka’s wild coast on a fully private, 6-hour boat and shore experience designed just for your group. Journey through the rugged islands that weave along the coast, watching for whales, sea otters, bears, sea lions, and seabirds while learning how these waters shape life in Alaska.
Your route and pace are flexible—guided by weather, tide, and your own interests. Land on a remote beach for a picnic and guided walk among tide pools and driftwood, or spend more time photographing wildlife and exploring hidden coves. With a private heated enclosed vessel and expert naturalist leading the way, this is your chance to slow down, connect deeply with nature, and experience the quieter side of Sitka’s wild beauty.

Why choose Sitka Wonders?
Led by Passionate Naturalists
Our captains and naturalists bring years of experience exploring Sitka Sound’s volcanic islands, wildlife, and tides. Their deep local knowledge, passion, and care for this coast turn every outing into more than a tour — it’s a window into the living rhythms of Alaska’s wild places.
Small-Group Coastal Exploration
With a maximum of six guests, this experience is unhurried and personal. We move with the weather and tides, choosing the best coves, wildlife areas, and beach landing sites each day to ensure every trip is unique.
Beyond the Crowds
Unlike large cruise excursions, we seek quiet moments — whales feeding in open bays, sea lions resting on volcanic ledges, eagles calling above the forest. You’ll step ashore on a remote island for a picnic lunch and time to wander, beachcomb, or simply take in the stillness.
FAQs
Yes. This tour is designed around Sitka’s cruise ship schedules. Our meeting point at Crescent Harbor is just a 1 minute walk from the cruise shuttle drop-off, and we build in plenty of time for guests to return comfortably before departure.
Sitka’s weather shifts quickly, and some of the best photos come in moody light. We run rain or shine and provide a dry, heated cabin if conditions change. If weather ever prevents safe travel, you’ll receive a full refund or the option to reschedule.
Every day is different. Depending on the season and tide, we often encounter whales, sea lions, otters, puffins, eagles, brown bears, and other seabirds. Some trips include close coastal scenery and quiet coves alive with marine life. While wildlife is never guaranteed, Sitka Sound offers exceptional photographic opportunities year-round.
